WHO CAN BE A MEMBER:
Individual members of ICOM in Slovakia can be:
• REGULAR MEMBERSHIP: professionals working in the Slovak Republic
• SENIOR MEMBERSHIP: professionals who have ceased their work and have retired (however, if they continue to work despite reaching retirement age, they belong to the category of regular members and the fee is 60 €
• STUDENT MEMBERSHIP: students of master’s and postgraduate studies in related fields can be (student membership).

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER:
If you meet the stated criteria and are interested in membership, please fill out the application form, which you can find HERE
Sign it, scan it and send it by email to kontakt@icom-slovakia.sk by the end of September of the given year. If you are applying for student membership, please attach confirmation of your studies for the given calendar year. If you are interested in senior membership, please attach a copy of the decision on the granting of (early) old-age pension from the Social Insurance Company.
The SK ICOM Board will review your application in accordance with the Statutes of SK ICOM. If your membership is not possible, you will be informed by email of the negative decision. Otherwise, your application will be forwarded to the ICOM headquarters in Paris, which issues membership cards. After your membership card arrives from Paris (which may take several days or several weeks), we will email you information about the payment of the annual membership fee by transfer to our account. After making the payment, you will collect your card in person at an agreed time in Bratislava at Riečna 1. If this is not possible – we will send it to you by post.
RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP:
Membership is renewed every year by paying the annual membership fee by 28 February, based on the call from the SK ICOM Board. To confirm your membership for the given year, a member will receive a stamp with the current year on their card after paying the annual membership fee. A member who does not renew their membership by 30 March of the relevant calendar year loses the rights associated with their category of membership until they make the payment of the annual membership fee. If they do not do so by 30 November of the relevant calendar year, their membership automatically expires. It can only be renewed by submitting a new application.
WHO CAN BECOME A MEMBER:
An institutional member can be a museum that has its seat in the territory of the Slovak Republic. An organization that promotes, sells, and buys cultural and natural heritage, art, scientific objects, and natural species for profit cannot become a member of SK ICOM.
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER:

By filling out this form, you will designate (max.) three representatives of your institution. Both completed forms must be signed and sent scanned to the email contact@icom-slovakia.sk along with a document that proves the amount of your current annual budget. Please place the printed versions in an envelope and send them to: ICOM, Slovak National Gallery, Riečna 1, 815 13 Bratislava.
The SK ICOM Board will review your application in accordance with the Statutes of SK ICOM. Your application will be forwarded to the ICOM headquarters in Paris, which issues membership cards. After the membership cards arrive from Paris (which may take several days to several weeks), we will email you information about the payment of the annual membership fee via transfer to our account, or we will issue you an invoice. After making the payment, you can pick up the cards in person at an agreed time (the time can be arranged at kontakt@icom-slovakia.sk) in Bratislava at the administrative seat of the SNG at Riečna 1 in Bratislava. If this is not possible, we will send them to you by post.
The amount of the annual membership fee and the number of membership cards is determined by the ICOM headquarters in Paris in several categories – depending on the amount of the museum’s budget. For this year, they are set as follows:

The SK ICOM Board reviews applications submitted by the end of September of the given year. After this deadline, applications for that year are not possible.
Membership is renewed every year by paying the annual membership fee during from December 1 to February 28.

RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP:
To confirm their membership for the given year, a member will receive a stamp with the current year on their card after paying the annual membership fee. A member who does not renew their membership by March 30 of the relevant calendar year loses the right to the privileges of their membership category until the payment of the annual membership fee is made. If they do not do so by November 30 of the relevant calendar year, their membership will expire. It can only be renewed in the following year by submitting a new application.
Every individual member and representative of an institutional member of the national committee (SK ICOM) has the right to become a member of the international committees of ICOM. They group their members according to their professional focus (for example, ethnography, glass, education in museums, museums in nature, etc.). Currently, there are 31 working under the roof of ICOM. You can find the list here.
International committees are managed by their boards and carry out various activities such as seminars, conferences, publishing publications, professional excursions, etc., which can help you in your professional focus – depending on the extent of your own initiative.
Every individual member of ICOM can become a member of one international committee with the right to vote and be elected to its board and at the same time be a maximum member of three other international committees and request electronic sending of information about their activities.
